Samsung announced that they are launching Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 on 1 Sep 2011 in Berlin’s IFA. This 7.7 tablet is the world’s first tablet to feature Super AMOLED Plus display. We are not sure when this tablet will be available in Malaysia but we are hoping it will sometime in Q4 2011 or Q1 2012.
When the original Samsung Tab was launch last year, it was going for a hefty price of RM 2699 in Malaysia. We expect Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus to launch with a price tag around that ballpark. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, with a bigger and better display, will most likely be more pricey.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 features a 7.7″ SUPER AMOLED Plus display. It has 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution with 197 pixels per inch (ppi). This is the highest density found in tablet available right now.
Its slim body measures only 7.89mm, thinner than a pencil!! It weighs a mere 335g. It’s 196.7 x 133 x 7.89 dimension and light weight makes it easy to carry around.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is powered by a 1.4 GHz dual core processor, giving you the ultimate processing power for more multitasking, faster web page loading etc. It has a battery with 51000 mAH capacity, enable you to play up to 10 hours of video and up to 130 hours of music.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has 1GB (RAM), 16/32/64 GB (ROM) and expandable microSD up to 32GB. That is a lot of memory to store your music and movies and applications.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 comes with Android OS 2.3 HoneyComb, the latest OS for tablets. Google has added a number of improvements in this version of OS. The compatibility zoom feature is not fixed so that application that is not meant for tablet will not be distorted when viewed on entire tablet screen. Media files in the SD card can now be loaded directly. We are hoping that this could be upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich which is the OS for both tablet and smartphone. However, the only device that will be on Ice Cream Sandwich for now is Samsung Nexus.
There is also support for Adobe Flash Player, making you are able to view the multimedia content in many websites out there.
Another feature is that Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 also improved it’s voice call. According to it’s microsite, the calling function is upgraded and it allows you to receive and make calls privately in public places using reciever mode. Samsung boast that there is no need for headset or blue tooth.

The camera is not that impressive. You can find more spectacular 8MP camera on IPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S2. The rear camera is a 3 MP auto focus camera with LED flash, supporting HD (720p) video recording. The front camera is a 2 MP camera.
